10 Dead As Bandits Clash At Naming Ceremony In Katsina
At least 10 people have been killed after two rival bandit groups clashed during a naming ceremony in Katsina State.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama on Wednesday reported on his X handle that the incident occurred on Monday evening at Gidan Mai Aure, near Sayaya village in Matazu Local Government Area.
Makama explained that the fight involved a gang led by Saimaila from Salihawa village and another headed by Muhammadu from Maharba village.
Eyewitnesses told Makama that tensions had been escalating between the two groups over control of territory.
“Trouble started when Muhammadu and his men stormed the naming ceremony, leading to a bloody shootout. By the end of the violence, Saimaila and nine of his followers were killed,” he wrote.
