A total of 500 students of African Church Comprehensive High School, Ikere, Ekiti state have been awarded scholarship by Tunmise Ayodele Foundation.
The scholarship included provision of textbooks, payment of National Economic Council and Joint Admission Matriculation Board registration forms.
Also, no fewer than 800 residents of Ogbon tutun and Oke Ikere, received free medical services, food palliatives and cash gifts doled out by the foundation on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, the Convener of the foundation, Dr. Tunmise Ayodele, expressed his passion for helping and motivating the less privileged, adding that the outreach is his way of giving back to the
Tunmise noted that the foundation was established to assist vulnerable people, saying the government should not be left alone in the provision of welfare packages.
He said, “This is our debut outreach in this community. I grew up with a mother who is a giver. Even though she doesn’t have much, she is fond of giving to the poor, paying school fees of some pupils and students. As a small child, I started doing the same, giving out our foodstuff to friends who didn’t have enough. “This I intend to do for the rest of my life.
“There is food and financial crisis in the country, we all need to show kindness, to reach out and comfort the sick, and give a helping hand to the weak.”
The principal of African Church Comprehensive High School, Mrs Viavo Atomeji, said Ayodele has demonstrated his commitment to improving the standard of his Alma Mater.
Community leaders, Pa Olowoyo Familusi, Joseph innocent and Favour Adu who spoke at the progamme expressed their desire to collaborate with the foundation in the future to expand the outreach to more members of the community.
One of the beneficiaries of the free medical service, Florence Olayemi, appreciated the gesture, urging the foundation to extend the outreach to other communities in the state.
