13 Suspected Criminals Arrested In Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested 13 persons allegedly involved in various criminal activities across the 18 local government areas of the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Adebowale Lawal, who disclosed this while briefing journalists in Akure on Sunday, said the suspects were apprehended for offences including cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, fraud, burglary, and stealing, among others.

According to Lawal, the arrests were made through the command’s community-driven and intelligence-led policing model aimed at curbing crime and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.

“In line with our community-driven and intelligence-led policing model, the command has continued to achieve remarkable successes in the fight against cultism, armed robbery, vehicle theft, fraud, and burglary across the state,” the Commissioner said.

He added that the 13 suspects were rounded up in different parts of the state after being linked to various criminal cases currently under investigation.

Lawal revealed that items recovered from the suspects include one pump action gun, two locally made pistols, expended cartridges, mobile phones, one Elepaq generator valued at ₦240,000, a roll of Energiser wire valued at ₦280,000, assorted home electrical wires worth ₦1.55 million, charms, and live goats.

“These cases represent a cross-section of the command’s recent achievements in crime prevention, detection, and prosecution,” he said, adding that the suspects would be charged in court upon completion of investigations.

The Commissioner also reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the state, noting that efforts were being intensified to rid Ondo of criminal elements through strategic intelligence gathering, community collaboration, and robust patrol operations.

Lawal commended residents of the state for their cooperation and urged them to continue providing useful information that could help the police in apprehending criminals in their communities.
