The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Alternative Education, Hon. Almustapha Ibrahim Aliyu has disclosed that the House is working on a framework that will ensure that over 14 million out-of-school Nigerian children are back to school.
He said the framework will be in form of an intervention through the House, adding that the out-of-school children will also be trained with relevant skills to become productive members of the society.
Aliyu noted that all required machinery has been put in place for the actualisation of the intervention.
OSUN DEFENDER gathered that the proposed initiative was aimed at: 4 million people from the North-East; 3.4 million from the North-West; 2.5 million from the North-Central; 3 million beneficiaries from the South-East; 2.1 million from the South-South, and 1.6 million from the South-West, respectively.

The initiative was said to be aimed at ensuring significant reduction of poverty in the six geopolitical zones of the country.
He said, “The project is tagged ‘Nigeria Mass Reduction of Out-of-School Children and Youth Project’ (NiMPROP), and it is proposed to last for four years.
“It would significantly reduce the number of out-of-school children through non-formal accelerated education system and other alternative schooling programmes.”
