No fewer than 150 youths have benefited from a vocational and empowerment programme organised by the Osun State Government in collaboration with Industrial Training Fund (ITF).
The programme tagged: “2023 ITF Skill Intervention Programme,” held at Osogbo Grammar School, according to the organisers was ideated to enable youths across the state to be self sufficient.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Teslim Igbalaye, Secretary to the State Govetnment, urged the beneficiaries to be productive and make good use of the equipment given to them after training.
Igbalaye, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau of Cabinet, Special Services and Office of the SSG, Mr. Olusoji Wojuade, also called on youths in the state to enroll for vocational courses instead of waiting for white-collar jobs.
In his remarks, the Director General/Chief Executive, Industrial Trust Fund, Dr. Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun, represented by Director ITF Ibadan Zonal Office, Mr. Oluwole, stated that the Trust Fund was established solely for the purpose of human capital development, empowerment and Industrial Training.
The ITF Boss appreciated the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke for the support received towards the success of the programme.
He stressed further: “As an Institution, our commitment to skills acquisition is based on the fact that it is the most sustainable solution to combatting unemployment, reducing poverty and youth restiveness in the country”.
The beneficiaries were further advised by other speakers to be creative and innovative in their vocation so they could stand out.
