No fewer than 16 persons died on Friday evening when three vehicles collided at Tukai Village in the Dambatta Local Government Area in Kano State, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, Mr Kabiru Ibrahim, confirmed this in a statement on Saturday.
The statement said the accident occurred at about 7.30pm and that it involved a Honda Accord, Peugeot 406 and Volkswagen Golf.
Ibrahim said the accident was caused by speed limit violation which led to loss of control by the drivers.
According to him, FRSC officials took the corpses to Dambatta Hospital.
He said N579,000 and 10,000 CFA franc was recovered by police on rescue mission.
Ibrahim promised that the money would be given to relations of the owners when identified.
He said the Volkswagen Golf was said to heading from Daura for Kano, while the Peugeot 406 was coming from Kano.
