A 17-year-old boy has been remanded in Kirikiri custodial facility for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl.
The suspect was remanded by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Chief Magistrate, E.Kubeinje, ordered that the juvenile be kept at the facility pending legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions.
The magistrate, who did not take the plea of the teenager, adjourned the case until July 24, for mention.
The Prosecutor, Insp John Iberedem had earlier told the court that the teenager committed the offence on June 23, at Prophetic Adebayo Street, Agodo Egbe, Ikotun, Lagos.
Iberedem alleged that the teenager sexually assaulted the minor.
The alleged offence, according to him, contravenes the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 137 provides that any convicted person for the offence of sexual intercourse with a minor is liable to life imprisonment.
