A 19-year-old trader, Khalid Salish, has been sentenced to two years in prison for stealing 10 chickens.
He was sentenced by a magistrates’ court in Jos, Plateau State, on Thursday.
The convict had earlier pleaded guilty to trespass and theft and begged for mercy.
The prosecution counsel, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on February 17, by one Sadiiq Zakariya, that the defendant trespassed into his house and stole 10 chickens worth N100,000.
The Magistrate, Thomas Ajitse, summarily sentenced him to two years imprisonment with an option of N75,000 fine and also ordered him to pay N100,000 as compensation to the complainant.
