1XBET Reacts To Osun Defender Story, Says Customers Who Claimed To Have Won Played The Wrong Bet
The management of popular betting platform, 1XBET has reacted to a viral report that the company scammed winners of a bet on its platform.
1XBET said while the claimants won, they put in an entry which was against the terms and conditions of the NCCA College Basketball match which the individuals staked.
Osun Defender had on November 10, reported how two young Nigerians took to the social media to call out 1XBET as a scam, after failing to pay their N93 million and N44 million winnings.
The duo said they carefully played the bet and that the company was only trying to deny them of their winnings.
However, in a reaction sent to Osun Defender, 1XBET explained that the bet was erroneously accepted by its staff. It added that the said bet which was on a NCAA College Basketball game was not available to be staked on at quarter half but for a half, which was the situation in the claimants case.
The betting company said it had so far refunded them, quoting relevant betting regulations to justify its decision.
The statement reads in part, “The client made a bet of accumulator type for 23 matches. All matches are NCAA basketball games. All selections were made for the “highest scoring quarter” with the total less. Such a bet wins provided that the sum of points for the lowest scoring quarter is less than the selected one in the bet.
“However, in the case in question, all bets are made on NCAA (College Basketball). College basketball games last for 40 minutes. The competition is divided into two 20-minute halves, not quarters.
“Unfortunately, the 1xbet website made a mistake and offered college football matches by quarters, although the match is played by halves. As a result, the customer bet on an outcome that could not happen. The bet is on a quarter, but the game is made up of halves.
“As a result, the 1xbet team saw this error, cancelled these bets and refunded the customer the money he used to place the bet, in accordance with the Terms and Conditions, due to obvious typos in the list of events.
“Paragraph 2.26. of the Betting Conditions states. Placing a bet serves as proof that the Customer agrees and accepts these Betting Terms and Conditions.
“Paragraph 2.19. of the Betting Rules states: If the employee has made a mistake when accepting the bet (obvious typos in the list of events, mismatch of odds between the offered betting markets and the bet, etc.), or the bet is accepted in violation of these Rules, or if there are any other signs of betting error, the bookmaker reserves the right to invalidate such bets. Refunds on such bets shall be paid at odds 1.
“We have refunded the customer for the erroneously accepted bet.
“Thus, neither the official Betting Rules nor logic allows us to pay out winnings for a non-existent event,” 1XBET said.
