2 Suspected Cultists Remanded In Prison For Threatening Land Owners
AN Osun State Magistrate Court, sitting in Osogbo, has ordered the remand of two suspected cultists, Tunde Akindele (25) and Godwin Taiwo (31) in custodial centre for allegedly threatening land owners in the state.
Akindele and Taiwo who were said to be members of Aye confraternity were accused of threatening to kill one Alhaji Mudasiru Odewale and Julius Odebunmi while ordering them to vacate some parcels of land in their possession.
The defendants were also accused of unlawfully converting eight economic trees belonging to the complainants to their use.
According to the charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER on Wednesday, the accused persons committed the offence on September 19, 2023 at Ifewara village, Osun State.
The alleged offence, according to the police, contravened Sections 516, 390(9), 64 and 81 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol.II, Law of Osun State, 2002.
But the accused persons pleaded not guilty to all the allegations levelled against them.
In his ruling, the presiding Magistrate, Adekanmi Adeyeba, ordered that the defendants be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre.
The case was adjourned till October 31, 2023, for hearing.
