A Magistrate Court, sitting in Modakeke, on Monday, remanded two accused persons: Oladosu Matthew, 20 and Komolafe Idowu, 20 over alleged murdered a three month old baby by throwing him into a well.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Christian Olajide informed the court that the accused committed the offence on June 2, 2017 around 3:40 pm at Boosa Area, Modakeke, Ife Northeast local government area of Osun State.
Olajide said that the accused conspired among within them to commit felony to wit: murder and assault, stressing that the accused physically assaulted one Mary Adedeji, a development that made her to run away from the scene of the attack, after sustaining injuries.
According to him, the escape of Mary from the scene angered the suspects, who picked her three months old baby lying on bed and threw him into a well which caused the death of the infant.
Olajide further hinted that the offence was contrary to sections 254, 316 and punishable under sections 319, 324, 351 and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The pleas of the accused were not taken by Magistrate Risikat Olayemi, saying that her court lacks jurisdiction to try the murder case.
Olayemi subsequently ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody pending their arraignment in proper court. She adjourned the case to August 27, 2017 for hearing.
