Following a stampede at an examination hall at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), twenty students of the University were yesterday reportedly rushed to the university’s teaching hospital.
The stampede according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) occurred where the students were billed to write the General Studies and Communication Skills (GSS) examination.
The GSS examination which was postponed to Saturday from Friday was for 100-level students from all the faculties of the university.
The students rushed to secure the few available spaces in the hall for the
examination meant to be taken in batches, a situation that resulted in chaos among the students.
When contacted by NAN, the university management declined to comment on the stampede, but a competent source confirmed the incident.
