20-yr-old Robbery Suspect Shoots Roommate Dead

Badmus Gbadamosi, is currently assisting the police in Ogun State to unravel the reason he shot his roommate, 27-year-old Friday Michael, dead in the early hours of Saturday.

According to a statement made available to by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, Gbadamosi a 20 year-old shot the deceased dead in his sleep with a locally-made pistol around 6.30a.m on the said day in their room at Mamu area of Ogun State.

The sound of the gunshot reportedly drew the attention of other occupants of the house, who quickly alerted policemen of the Awa-Ijebu Division, and the suspect was subsequently arrested.

Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that Gbadamosi was suspected to be a member of a notorious armed robbery gang that had been terrorising the area, and the deceased had challenged him on two occasions when he returned from criminal operations, saying that he would expose his criminal activities.

The PPRO said it was believed that the suspect shot his roommate to death in order to cover his criminal activities from being exposed.

The PPRO disclosed that the suspect had given useful information to the police, and the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered the case to be transferred to the Federal-Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) for further investigation.
