The Peoples Democratic Party in Kaduna State says there is no automatic ticket for anybody seeking elective positions in the state.
Chairman of the party in the state, Hassan Hyet, told newsmen on Wednesday that all the candidates would emerge through a free and fair primary.
“We, however, urge the new defectors to be ready to slug it out with the old members of the party in a free and fair contest,” he said.
Hyet explained that no aspirant would be offered automatic ticket as being speculated in some quarters, stating that all the candidates would participate in the primaries.
According to him, the decision to provide a level-playing ground for all the aspirants is in the best interest of the party.
The move, he stated, was to discourage impunity and any action that may likely create disaffection amongst PDP members in the state.
The party chairman also appealed to aspirants to take their campaigns to the delegates who would decide their fate during the primaries, in line with the party’s guidelines and constitution.
