A pan-Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohaneze Ndigbo, has threatened to mobilize its members to dump the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar wins the party’s presidential ticket in the coming primary election of the PDP.
Recall that Atiku, while visiting former President Olusegun Obasanjo last weekend, said there was no time he has ever failed to get the Presidential ticket. He also expressed confidence in getting PDP’s 2023 presidential ticket.
Reacting to his stance, Ohaneze in a statement released said the group has always supported PDP and will not hesitate to withdraw its support for the party if a presidential candidate of Igbo extraction is not fielded come 2023.
The group maintained that, “Igbos have always mobilised support for the PDP, why will it be hard for the party to push an Igbo candidate in 2023?”, the group lamented.
