2023: Kano APC Picks Nasir Gawuna As Ganduje’s Successor

The Deputy Governor of Kano Statel, Nasir Gawuna, has been anointed as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders for the 2023 governorship election.

Osun Defender reliably gathered that the Deputy Governor’s choice was made at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the instance of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje which he also presided over.

As part of the consecus arrangement, the state’s former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Murtala Sule Garo, was picked as the running mate for Gawuna in the 2023 election.

It was gathered that it took intervention of elders of the party and elder statesmen in the state to prevail on Garo to step down for Gawuna.

According to media reports, Garo is believed to have the control of the party structure at the local government level and was regarded as the preferred candidate of the wife of the governor, Hafsat Ganduje.
