2026: Adeleke Already Defeated, PDP Has Crumbled – K-RAD
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Mr Kunle Adegoke (SAN), has boasted that any aspirant who emerges as the candidate of the party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election will defeat incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria made the disclosure on Monday while addressing journalists shortly after meeting the leadership of the APC to declare his intention to contest the gubernatorial election.
Adegoke said the Peoples Democratic Party, under which Governor Adeleke will likely seek his re-election, has already crumbled.
Adegoke said, “APC has already succeeded in beating Governor Adeleke. The pillars holding his party have already crumbled. People have discovered that there is no plan, understanding, or knowledge in that party to bring prosperity to the people of Osun.
“With the array of contestants that we have in the APC, all of us being competent and qualified, any of us who emerges will beat Governor Adeleke flat in the election.”
Speaking on why he is aspiring to become the next governor of the state, Adegoke noted that there is nothing to celebrate under the current administration, adding that the state’s economy is not enviable.
Adegoke noted that the state government has not been able to generate plans to drive the economy of the state, adding that he is set to re-engineer and overhaul the state economy if he becomes the governor.
“I’m here today to declare my intention to contest the gubernatorial election coming up in 2026 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
“There is a lot to be done because the state in which our State has found itself today is not enviable and without an economy that can make life more abundant for the people, there is nothing we can celebrate.
“We must acknowledge that our State is not where it ought to be. Our youths are crying for lack of jobs and opportunities. There is food insecurity while our farmers are struggling to meet their needs and get fair prices for their insufficient produce. Our traders are facing a difficult economic climate. Our schools and hospitals need significant improvement.
“I have perfected plans to ensure that the economy of Osun is completely re-engineered and overhauled. To this extent, we are looking at things that we have not only in terms of natural resources but also human resources, and we have done a lot of preparation for this.
“Since 2011 when I first came upon the idea that I will like to be governor of Osun State one day, I have been working assiduously to ensure that what we called land management and agric revolution will be brought to bare in Osun State and we are going to reinvent our financial policies in a way that the state will survive with or without allocations from the federal government.
“That is not possible today as a result of the fact that the government in existence today has not been able to generate plans that would guarantee this,” Adegoke added
On if he didn’t emerge eventually as the candidate of the APC, Adegoke said, “If I’m not the candidate that emerges after the primary, I am going to work continuously for the success of the party and the emergence of whoever succeeds in clinching the ticket of the party, and at the end of the day, APC will be the party to drive Osun State into prosperity.”
