Tension is brewing within the camp of two gubernatorial aspirants within the All Progressives Congress in Osun State – Bola Oyebamiji and Senator Iyiola Omisore ahead of the December 13 primary election.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that Oyebamiji and Omisore were among the aspirants eyeing the ticket of the party for the August 08, 2026 election.

Recall that Omisore, on Thursday, purchased the N50 million nomination of interest form from the national secretariat of the party.

However, the Elder Caucus of the APC in Osun on Friday, released a communiqué, asking aspirants not to buy the nomination form until a screening committee put in place to screen them finishes its work.

However, members of the APC in the camp of the former deputy governor described the move as a way of frustrating their preferred aspirant.

Meanwhile, the tension escalated on Friday night when one of the supporters of Oyebamiji, who resigned yesterday as the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), David Fagbohungbe, slammed Omisore, describing him as ‘someone without character’.

Fagbohungbe wrote in a Facebook post, “The leadership will settle for candidate that is humble and kind. Eni ni o ni ku igbale mo omo egbe lori ni campaign rally (someone who will not beat a party member with broom during a campaigning rally).

OSUN DEFENDER reports that Omisore came under fire after a video surfaced showing the former National Secretary of the APC beating a party member with a broom during his official declaration.

Following the post, another APC member who is believed to be with the camp of Senator Omisore, Tunde Oba, challenged Fagbohungbe and asked him to post more, warning him that all his posts were being documented.

But Fagbohungbe did not back out. He told Oba that all the words of attack from Omisore’s camp were also documented.

Owning up to his post, Fagbohungbe said he posted the write up to show that “nobody has a monopoly of everything”.

Political observers have predicted that the fight between the two camps will go on until the party’s primary.

They also noted that if not adequately managed by the party leadership, the fallout from the primary election may further divide the APC in Osun State.
