2026: Disregard Defection Rumours, Adeleke Not Leaving PDP – Osun Exco
The Osun State Executive Council has dismissed as baseless the rumour making the rounds that Governor Ademola Adeleke and members of his cabinet are planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Speaking during a press conference in Osogbo on Monday, members of the cabinet, comprising Commissioners and Special Advisers, reaffirmed their unflinching loyalty to Governor Adeleke and the PDP, stressing that no amount of political scheming by the opposition would sway their allegiance.
The Executive Council members vowed to stand firmly “like a rock of Gibraltar” behind the governor, whom they described as the architect of a new Osun.

Reading the official position of the Forum of Commissioners and Forum of Special Advisers, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dosu Babatunde, urged the people of Osun to ignore the “careless insinuations” being peddled by opposition figures.
He stated that both the governor and his team remain committed to delivering on their mandate under the PDP banner, and will not be part of any defection plot.
“Your Excellency, Mr Governor, we hereby reaffirm our unwavering solidarity and loyalty to you and the PDP,” Babatunde declared.
“The rumour of mass defection is not only unfounded but a mischievous fabrication by those who fear the growing achievements of this administration. Governor Adeleke is not leaving the PDP, and neither are we. Together, we shall work to secure another resounding victory in 2026.”
Fielding questions from journalists, Babatunde also debunked the claim that Governor Adeleke was plotting a move to the APC, describing it as “a rumour from the pit of hell.”
He reiterated that Adeleke remains fully committed to the PDP and is focused on driving forward the development agenda that has brought relief and hope to the people of Osun State.
