One of the disqualified gubernatorial aspirants under the All Progressives Congress for the 2026 election in Osun State, Prince Dotun Babayemi, has pledged to abide by the decision of the party concerning the forthcoming election.

In a statement he personally signed, a copy obtained by OSUN DEFENDER, Babayemi, said the party remains supreme and above individual aspiration.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that Babayemi and six others, including the immediate past National Secretary of the party, Iyiola Omisore and the former deputy governor of the state, Gboyega Alabi, were disqualified by the screening committee.

However, Babayemi, in the statement, said President Bola Tinubu was working to resolve the issues with a view to reaching a resolution that will leave the APC united and able to regain power in Osun come 2026.

The statement reads, “The Osun State Chapter of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been in the news lately, particularly for issues bordering on the process of deciding our Governorship Candidate for the Osun 2026 Governorship Election

“As a gubernatorial aspirant, I have traversed 299 Wards out of a total of 332 Wards in Osun State, spreading the Renewed Hope message of Mr President, and stating at every location that the Party remains supreme, and that I will abide by its decision on who flies its flag in 2026.

“In the past few days, the leadership of our party at the National and State levels, under the wise guidance of our Leader. President Bola Tinubu, have been busy resolving the issues that are cropping up, with a view to reaching a workable resolution that will leave our party united, and able to regain power in Osun come 2026

“I restate my commitment to the ideals of the Progressives, and I am prepared to abide by the Party’s resolutions concerning the 2026 Governorship Election, believing that the actualisation of our shared goals of delivering good governance to our people supersedes any individual desires.”
