2026: Lawmakers’ Defection, Final Burial Rite Of APC In Osun – Accord Party
The Accord Party in Osun State has described the formal reception of the five federal lawmakers who dumped the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress as a poor outing, which suggested that Osun people have rejected the APC.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that Senator Francis Fadahunsi, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi, Hon Wole Oke, Hon Sanya Omirin and Hon Taofeek Ajilesoro, who were elected under the PDP, officially joined the APC on Saturday at an event held in Osogbo.
The chairman of the Accord Party in Osun State, Pastor Victor Akande, in a statement on Sunday, a copy obtained by OSUN DEFENDER, said the reception was “the final burial rite of the APC in Osun State”.
Akande appreciated residents of Osun for what he described as their consistent refusal to be swayed by political theatrics, adding that the people are now enjoying good governance.
“We want to sincerely thank the good people of Osun State. Once again, you have shown that your votes, your loyalty and your convictions are not for sale. You cannot lose touch with the grassroots and expect their support.
“Its pertinent to note that what happened yesterday was the final burial rite of the APC in Osun State. The people have moved on beyond noise. They are experiencing good governance. They are measuring credibility. And they are rejecting desperation,” Akande stated.
The Accord Party chairman also said the event showed that the people are no longer with the defected lawmakers, adding that, “defection is a personal decision, but public acceptance is earned. If those who moved truly carried the people with them, the evidence would have been clear. Instead, Osun residents stayed away. That silence is powerful. We see through the attempt to repackage recycled politicians as fresh gains. The people are wiser now.”
