2026: Omisore Camp Alleges Frustration As APC Elder Caucus Asks Aspirants To Halt Purchase Of Nomination Form

There are indications that some blocks within the All Progressives Congress in Osun State are frustrating the gubernatorial ambition of the former deputy governor of the state, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

Omisore, who is one of the aspirants of the party for the August 08, 2026, election, purchased the N50 million nomination form from the National Secretariat of the party.

However, following the announcement that he has bought his nomination form, some members of the APC who were loyalists of the former Commissioner for Finance, Bola Oyebamiji, who is also an aspirant took to social media to discredit the move by former National Secretary of the party, noting that he would not get the ticket of the party.

The situation later degenerated into an abuse after a key member of Omisore’s campaign team, Jamiu Olawumi, alleged that the chairman of the APC in the state, Tajudeen Lawal was kidnapped in Abuja and forced to sign a form.

Following Onawumi’s post, supporters of Oyebamiji and Omisore resorted to calling names,, with both factions boasting of their preferred aspirants getting the ticket.

Meanwhile, a day after Omisore purchased his nomination form, the Elder Caucus (Igbimo Agba) of the APC in Osun State issued a communiqué, telling all aspirants to refrain from purchasing the nomination interest forms for now.

The communique signed by the caucus chairman, Engr Sola Akinwumi, on Friday, said a screening committee has been inaugurated to screen all gubernatorial aspirants under the party.

The communiqué read: “The above body received the report of its ADHOC COMMITTEE on the 2026 Osun Guber Election today the 14th day of November 2025 and resolved as follows:

“The body put a Screening Committee in place and charged the committee to expeditiously screen all gubernatorial aspirants for the 2026 Governorship election within a time frame.

“All the Aspirants were urged to exercise patience in obtaining the prescribed forms by the party until the Screening Committee submits its Report to this body.

“All Party stakeholders are enjoined to continue to remain steadfast with the Party.”

Speaking on the development, a member of the Omisore campaign team who did not want his name in print, said the move was to frustrate the former Osun East lawmaker.

He said, “Why is the Elder caucus bringing out this communique after Otunba Omisore purchased his form? It is obvious that the move is to frustrate him.

“If you look at what is happening within the party, you will see that those in the other group are jittery of Omisore’s popularity and they knew he will win the primary election.”
