Stakeholders, leaders and members of the Accord Party in Osun West Senatorial District have unanimously endorsed the Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Lere Oyewumi, for re-election ahead of the 2027 general elections, while also ratifying the candidacy of Hon. Olanrewaju Oladebo for a second term in the House of Representatives.

The endorsements emerged during the party’s senatorial and federal constituency primary elections, which were conducted under the supervision of electoral committees and monitored by security agencies, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the media.

Oyewumi is seeking another term to represent Osun West Senatorial District in the Senate, while Oladebo will contest to retain the Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

The outcomes of the primaries were announced by the chairmen of the respective electoral committees, Bolaji Opaoye and Isa Ojewale, who declared both candidates duly returned through the consensus process adopted by the party.

The exercise attracted party leaders, government officials, supporters and members from across the district, with security personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) present to monitor proceedings.

Speaking after accepting his nomination, Senator Oyewumi described the successful conduct of the primaries as a reflection of the confidence party members and residents have in the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

According to him, the level of participation and unity displayed by party members signposts what he expects to be a strong electoral outing for the party in the forthcoming governorship election.

“The successful conduct of today’s primaries is historic. It speaks to how much both members of our party and the people of our respective constituencies believe in the government of Ademola Adeleke and the Accord Party,” Oyewumi said.

“It is clear to everyone that we have delivered across all sectors and that will further reflect in the massive votes our people will use to return our Governor on August 15. We are ready and by the grace of God, we will win.”

The lawmaker expressed optimism that Governor Adeleke would secure another term in office, insisting that the administration’s achievements have earned it the support of the electorate across the state.

Similarly, Hon. Oladebo thanked party faithful for what he described as an overwhelming endorsement, pledging to continue delivering quality representation to the people of Ayedaade, Irewole and Isokan Federal Constituency.

“We are indeed grateful to our people. Their overwhelming support and massive endorsement speak to how well we have impacted them,” he said.

“We will not drop the ball. We will continue to work for them. I urge the people of Osun not to relent in their support for us and Mr. Governor so that the good work can continue.”

Also present at the event were members of the House of Representatives, including Hon. Bamidele Salam, representing Ede/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency, and Hon. Lukman Musashir, representing Iwo/Ayedire/Ola-Oluwa Federal Constituency, both of whom also emerged unopposed in their respective constituencies.

Party leaders, chieftains and senior government functionaries attended the gathering, which concluded with renewed calls for unity and support for the party’s candidates ahead of future electoral contests.
