2027: Atiku Pledges Support for Any Candidate That Emerges ADC Flagbearer
Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has pledged to support whoever emerges as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general election.
Atiku, who spoke at the welcome ceremony for new defectors into the coalition party in Lagos on Saturday, said it would not matter whether he secures the ticket or not, stressing that the process must be free and fair.
Represented by Prof. Ola Olateju, Atiku noted that all aspirants would be given a level playing field to contest.
“It is not a thing we can predetermine. Whoever emerges through free and fair contests, we are all going to support. We are not imposing anyone on the people,” he said.
He added that the eventual flagbearer of the ADC would represent the interest of all Nigerians in the coming election.
The defectors were officially received by the National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola; Senator Kolawole Ogunwale; and Lagos State ADC Chairman, George Ashiru.
The race for the ADC presidential ticket is expected to be keenly contested by former governors and presidential hopefuls including Chibuike Amaechi, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar himself.
