2027: Benue PDP Warns Members Against Joining Atiku-Led Coalition
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State has distanced itself from the coalition being spearheaded by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement signed on Wednesday by the State Secretary, Comrade Dan Nyikwagh, the party described the alliance as a desperate move by “opportunistic politicians” who are falsely associating themselves with the PDP to gain relevance.
“The PDP in Benue State has no affiliation with this coalition. We urge our members to remain loyal and not be misled by individuals who abandoned the party but are now seeking relevance by using the party’s name,” the statement read.
The party accused key coalition actors of being politically absent during previous elections and party activities, only to now return and attempt to leverage the PDP’s structure.
“If they are truly popular, let them campaign based on their own records, not by hiding behind the legacy of our party,” it added.
Reaffirming support for former governor Samuel Ortom, the party stated that he remains committed to strengthening the PDP in Benue ahead of the 2027 polls.
It urged all members to ignore any invitation to join the Atiku-led alliance and stay united under the PDP platform.
