2027: Group Asks APC Screening Committee, NWC To Uphold Petition On Disqualification Of Former Osun Rep, Oluga

A political group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Concerned Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency APC Youth Forum, has called on the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and the House of Representatives Screening Committee to uphold the alleged disqualification of former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Taiwo Olukemi Oluga, from the forthcoming APC primary election.

The group, led by Comrade Ismail Alade from Ward 4, Isokan Local Government, alongside Elder Bukola Familusi from Ward 6, Ayedaade Local Government, made the call while reacting to a petition submitted against the former lawmaker over alleged non-membership of the APC.

In a statement made available to journalists on Sunday, the group insisted that the APC must strictly adhere to its constitution and internal democratic principles by ensuring that only duly registered and financially up-to-date members participate in the party’s primary election for the Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency seat.

The group referenced a formal petition dated May 9, 2026, addressed to the APC House of Representatives Screening Committee at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, alleging that Hon. Oluga was not a registered member of the APC in any ward within Ayedaade Local Government Area.

According to the petition signed by a member of the party from Irewole Local Government, whose name was not disclosed, “I have reasonable and credible cause to believe that Hon. Taiwo Olukemi Oluga, purportedly a native of Gbongan Town, Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State, who is seeking the APC ticket for the House of Representatives seat for the Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency, is not a duly registered, enrolled, or financially up-to-date member of the All Progressives Congress.”

The petition further cited Article 9.1(i) and (ii) of the APC Constitution, stating that party membership requires registration through the ward structure, payment of prescribed fees and issuance of membership and dues cards.

The group also drew attention to another portion of the petition, which relied on Article 9.3(i) of the APC Constitution, stating that, “That Article 9.3(i) of the APC Constitution provides expressly that only fully registered and financially up-to-date members of the party shall have the right to vote and be voted for into any elective position, and that non-financial members shall not enjoy such rights.

“Article 31.2(i) of the APC Constitution provides in omnibus and mandatory terms that no person shall be eligible to contest for any party position or be nominated by the party to be its candidate at any election if the person is not a member of the party.

“Permitting an ineligible person to participate in that primary taints the entire process and exposes the party to legal challenge and nullification of results.

“Wherefore, the Petitioner respectfully prays that this Honourable Committee be pleased to: Direct the APC Osun State Working Committee to produce the certified Ward Register for the relevant ward within Ayedaade Local Government Area, for the purpose of verifying the membership status of Hon. Taiwo Olukemi Oluga.

“Decline to screen or clear Hon. Taiwo Olukemi Oluga pending satisfactory conclusion of the membership verification exercise; and formally disqualify Hon. Taiwo Olukemi Oluga from the party’s primary election for the Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency should the investigation confirm that she is not a duly registered and financially up-to-date member of the party,” the petition noted.

The youth forum, therefore, urged the APC National Working Committee and the screening committee to thoroughly verify the allegations raised in the petition and ensure that the party’s constitution is strictly obeyed.

The group maintained that internal discipline and constitutional compliance remain critical to preserving the integrity of the APC ahead of the primary election.

Speaking further, Comrade Alade said the group was not acting out of personal hatred but in defence of the constitution of the APC and the credibility of the party’s primary process.

“We are not against anybody’s ambition, but we strongly believe that the constitution of our party must be respected by everyone, irrespective of status or influence. The APC cannot afford to bend its rules for one individual while expecting others to comply,” he said.

Elder Bukola Familusi also stated that the petition raised constitutional issues that deserve urgent and transparent investigation by the party leadership before the primary election is conducted.

“If the allegations are false, let the ward register and membership records clear her publicly. But if the allegations are true, then the party must do the needful to avoid unnecessary embarrassment and possible litigation after the primary

“Our demand is simple and straightforward. Let there be fairness, transparency and total compliance with the APC constitution. That is the only way the party can maintain unity and avoid avoidable legal complications ahead of the general election,” Familusi added.

As of the time of filing this report, Hon. Taiwo Oluga and the APC leadership in Osun State had yet to officially respond to the allegations contained in the petition.
