2027: I’ll Work Against Any Ticket With Obi as Running Mate — Aisha Yesufu
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, and socio-political activist, Aisha Yesufu, has warned that she would oppose any 2027 presidential ticket in which Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, emerges as a running mate rather than the flagbearer.
Yesufu issued the warning in a video circulating on social media, where she vowed to work against any ticket that presents Obi as a vice-presidential candidate.
She said the former Anambra State governor remains the best among the aspirants and should not be relegated to a secondary role.
“I’m giving you people my word. If Peter Obi emerges as a running mate to anyone, I will work against that ticket,” she said.
“In my little capacity, I will work against them even if I don’t support any other candidates. Why are we always asking the best to be the second?” Yesufu added.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that Obi, who recently joined the ADC, is among the aspirants seeking the party’s presidential ticket after it was adopted by a coalition of opposition leaders aiming to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
There are, however, indications that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar may emerge as the party’s presidential candidate and could possibly pick Obi as his running mate.
