Youths in Ikoyi community, Isokan Local Government Area of Osun State have appealed to the state governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke and stakeholders within the Accord Party to ensure that the House of Assembly Ticket for Irewole/Isokan state constituency is returned to their council.

The youths said the appeal came following a rumour that Governor Adeleke was planning to return all the House of Assembly members who defected with him to the Accord Party from the Peoples Democratic Party.

Addressing journalists at the Ikoyi town hall on Friday, the youth leader, Orolade Ibidola, said the current lawmaker representing the state constituency, Hon. Abiola Inaolaji, is from Irewole local government, adding that the ticket is being rotated between the two communities every four years.

Ibidola stated that for the sake of fairness and equity, the ticket should be ceded to Isokan local government in order to continue the age-long rotation.

He said, “We are appealing to the Accord party stakeholders to please, for the sake of equity and fairness, return the ticket to Isokan. In our constituency, we have two local governments producing one House of Assembly member. So, ever since the creation of Osun state in 1991, there has been a bilateral agreement to avoid any internal crisis that the candidature will be rotated every four years between the two local governments irrespective of political party and we have been maintaining that ever since.

“Now, there is an indication that is flying around that Governor Adeleke is planning to retain all the House of Assembly members who decamped with him to the Accord Party. This arrangement does not sit well with us. The current lawmaker representing the constituency is from Irewole and it is the turn of Isokan.”

The youth leader also called on the opposition All Progressives Congress to zone its House of Representatives ticket to Ikoyi, lamenting that the town has been marginalised for long.

“We are appealing to the leadership of the APC to zone the party’s ticket for the House of Representatives in the 2027 general election to Ikoyi. Our town has been consistently overlooked for any meaningful appointments or elective posts,” Ibidola appealed.

The youth leader, however, warned that a representative of the Accord Party, “would not be allowed to hold any meeting or stage campaigns in the town”, if the House of Assembly ticket is not returned to Isokan local government.
