2027: PDP Will Present Presidential Candidate, Make Impact – Says Wike
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would present a presidential candidate in 2027.
Wike said contrary to pundits who have written off the PDP, the party would make an impact in the 2027 elections.
He made the declaration during his monthly media chat in Abuja on Friday.
Wike said, “I’m happy we have been able to hold our national convention contrary to what people thought. I remember that sometimes when we had these discussions, you were not sure if PDP has come to stay and I did tell you that PDP must stay.
“We have put this convention behind us and as far as I’m concerned, it has come and gone. People are trooping in and we have said the door is open, yes we have had crisis and now that the crisis are over, would we shut our doors, no.
“We have had our differences and now that we have come to this point, if we are sincere there is nothing late, we can do it together to move the party forward.
“There is no doubt that we have a lot of work to do but it’s important that PDP will be on the ballot in 2027 as against pundits who have written off that PDP will not be there and we are going to make an impact.
“We will present a candidate for the presidential election. I want to make this clear to people that from 2015 till now we never had a president but the party is still there.
“What is my concern is what are you going to do to keep the party relevant.”
