2027: Tension Hits Osun East APC Over Senatorial Ticket
•As Fadahunsi Slams Aspirant Ogungbangbe Over ‘Handover’ Claim
Tension is brewing among members of the All Progressives Congress in Osun East Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 primary elections following a clash between the camp of the lawmaker representing the district in the Red Chamber, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, and a senatorial aspirant, Thomas Ogungbangbe.
The problem began when Ogungbange reportedly declared himself the “incoming Senator” during a rally in Ijebu-Jesa.
But the camp of Senator Fadahunsi, immediately attacked back and called out the senatorial aspirant for his remarks.
A statement by Omole Oluwasegun Omo-Osodi, the Head of Media and Public Enlightenment for Senator Fadahunsi, posted on his Facebook page, noted that Ogungbange, during the women leaders’ rally in Ijebu-Jesa, reportedly declared himself the “incoming Senator,” claiming in Yoruba: “Emi ni incoming Senator, Babawa Fadahunsi ti gbelemi lọwọ” – translating to “Senator Fadahunsi has handed over to me.”

The statement described the senatorial aspirant’s remarks as “careless” and false, noting that “There is never a time our Principal called or met Mr Thomas Ogungbangbe to discuss his ambition.”
Fadahunsi demanded that Ogungbangbe issue a public apology and cease using his name for “cheap popularity.”
“Distinguished Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi OFR is running again and by God’s grace will return to the Senate to represent Osun East,” it concluded.
