A 23-year-old man, Usman Aminu, has been sentenced to six months imprisonment for alleged housebreaking and theft.
Aminu was sentenced by a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti.
Aminu, according to the police, on February 27, at about 01:30p.m, at Ado-Ekiti, broke into the house of one Akunne Clara and committed a felony therein.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, said the defendant on the same date, time and place within the magisterial district, did steal one 12KG gas cylinder, 1 cable wire, 1 DVD player, 1 big LG television and 1 HP laptop, total valued N385,000:00, property of Akunne Clara.
The offence committed according to the prosecutor, is punishable under Section 322(a), 302(1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021.
The defendant, whose counsel was Barr. E. O. Oladele, owned up to the crime and was however given a summary trial, as he bagged N20,000 fine on count 1, and N10,000 fine on count 2.
The Magistrate, Dolapo Babalogbon, sentenced him to 6 months imprisonment for the offence and was taken to the correctional custody in Ado-Ekiti.
