23-Year-Old Man Allegedly Killed Mother Over Money In Akwa Ibom

A 23-year-old man, Akaninyene Sunday Isaac, has allegedly killed his 55-year-old mother following disagreements over money.

The incident happened on Wednesday, October 12, at Uruk Uso village, Abak Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom.

According to a family source, trouble started when the young man requested money from his mother but she turned him down, telling him she had no money with her.

This according to the source, reportedly infuriated the young man, prompting him to pick up a machete and attack the mother.

The mother reportedly passed out before she could receive medical attention.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Odiko McDon, who confirmed the story, said the suspect is currently in custody at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary.

According to him, investigations are ongoing to uncover the immediate and remote causes of this dastardly act.
