2nd Anniversary: 10 Key Points From Gov. Adeleke’s State Broadcast
As Osun State marks two years under Governor Ademola Adeleke’s leadership, his anniversary state broadcast served as a reflection on his administration’s achievements and a roadmap for the years ahead.
Hence, Osun Defender highlights ten key takeaways from the Governor’s speech.
1. Healthcare Revolution
Governor Adeleke’s administration prioritized preventive healthcare, upgrading 200 primary health centers with solar power, boreholes, and medical supplies. Plans to refurbish six general hospitals were also announced. Over 100,000 residents benefitted from two Imole medical outreaches, and 29,000 pensioners were enrolled in the health insurance scheme.
2. Tackling Water Scarcity
To address the acute water shortage inherited in 2022, the government implemented a three-phase solution: the construction of 332 boreholes across political wards, rehabilitation of major waterworks, and revival of abandoned mini-water projects. Another 332 boreholes are currently under construction.
3. Agricultural Advancements
Agriculture received a boost with the introduction of a farm mechanization program that provided 31 tractors in its first phase. Youth agropreneur initiatives were launched across all local governments, alongside efforts to revive farm settlements and expand cocoa and cashew cultivation.
4. Education Sector Transformation
Under Governor Adeleke, the University of Ilesa became operational with accredited courses and takeoff grants. At Osun State University, four abandoned projects were completed, and a new anatomy laboratory was constructed. Additionally, 99 secondary schools were rehabilitated, and upgrades to six technical colleges resumed.
5. Public Service Reforms
Adeleke restored stability to the civil service, with regular promotions, phased payment of half salary arrears, and approval of a new minimum wage.
The Governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to being pro-workers, ensuring welfare remained a priority.
6. Infrastructure Development
The administration has constructed over 120 kilometers of roads, completed several inter-state and intra-city road projects, and advanced work on flyovers in Osogbo, Ile-Ife, and Ilesa. Plans for road dualization in Iwo were also highlighted.

Furthermore, inherited projects were completed without discrimination, showcasing his inclusive leadership style.
