3 Children Of Same Family Drown In Bauchi Stream

Tragedy hit the Abdulmumin family in Konkiel town in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State, on Sunday, when three daughters of the family aged between three and seven drowned in a stream in the town.

This was revealed in a statement made available to Metro by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Bauchi State Police Command, Haruna Mohammed, on Monday, disclosing that the girls left home at about 5:30pm that day to play but were later discovered unconscious at a nearby stream.

Mohammed, a Superintendent of Police (SP), stated that one Samaila Magaji reported the incident at the Darazo police station in Darazo, adding that police personnel visited the scene and took the girls to the Darazo General Hospital, where they were confirmed dead.

“On Sunday, May 21, at about 8:00p.m, one Samaila Magaji  of Konkiel Town in Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State reported at Darazo Divisional Police headquarters that on the same day at about 5:30pm, all of same address left home to play but were later discovered unconscious at a nearby stream.

“Police patrol team attached to Darazo division visited the scene and rushed them to General Hospital, Darazo, for medical attention. Victims were certified dead on arrival by a medical doctor.

“Corpses photographed and deposited at the mortuary for postmortem examination after which they would be released to relatives for burial according to Islamic rites,” the command’s image-maker stated.

He added that the case was under investigation to ascertain actual cause of the incident.
