Three suspected armed robbers have been remanded in Correctional Centre by an Osogbo magistrate’s court.
According to the charge sheet made available to OSUN DEFENDER yesterday, the suspects, Adedayo Ishola (34), Tonny Omofila (30) and Hammed Waheed (21), were accused of robbing one Moshood Teslim of his Toyota Corolla Car with registration number RBC 670 BE valued N1, 600,000.
The accused persons, who were brought to the court on a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery, were alleged of arming themselves with guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons to commit the crime on June 18, 2020 at No. 10, Osogbo Housing Estate, Osogbo.
The offences are said to be punishable under Sections 1(1) and 1(1)(2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Act Cap, RII Vol. 14, Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The plea of the suspects was not taken because the magistrate lacks jurisdiction to entertain armed robbery case.
Magistrate Mrs. Modupe Awodele ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison custody, just as she adjourned the case till August 31, 2020.
