THE State of Osun Police Command has arraigned a 30-year-old man, Opeyemi Arogundade, before an Osogbo Magistrate Court over a stolen phone in Ilobu area of the state.
Arogundade was accused of stealing a Tecno phantom 9 phone worth N97,000, property of one Sunday Adegbenro. He was said to have also fraudulently withdrawn sum of N550,000 from Adegbenro’s first bank account with the phone.
According to the charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER yesterday, the defendant committed the offence in the month of February, 2022 at Ilobu.
The alleged offence contravened Sections 519, 390, 419, 517 and 249 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the six-count charge bordering on conspiracy, unlawful possession, fraud and stealing levelled against him.
Applying for the bail of the accused person, Defence Counsel, Oladipupo Olatunbosun, prayed the court to admit the defendant bail on a liberal term, promising that he would provide reliable surety.
In his ruling, the presiding Magistrate, Adekanmi Adeyeba, admitted the defendant to bail in a sum of N500,000 with two sureties.
The case was adjourned till September 28, 2022 for hearing.
