A 36-year-old labourer, Abdullahi Garba, was on Monday arraigned before a Sharia Court in Kano State for allegedly stealing an amplifier worth N80,000 from a mosque.
The suspect, a resident of Kawon Lambu Hotoro, Nasarawa Local Government in Kano, was charged with criminal trespass and theft.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Inspector Abdullahi Wada, told the court that the case was reported on March 14 at Hotoro Police Station.
The prosecutor noted that a complainant, Najib Hamisu, who resides at Tishama Quarters, Hotoro, reported the matter.
Wada said the defendant trespassed into the mosque and stole the amplifier worth N80,000.
The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.
The judge, Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar, however, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N40,000 with one reliable shorty, who was a blood relative.
Lawal-Abubakar adjourned the matter until April 23 for trial.
