Pandemonium broke out in some parts of Ile Ife, such as Akarabata line 1, Ojoyin and Isale Agbara on Monday as two rival groups clashed, leaving many injured.
An eyewitness who craved anonymity, said the clash, which started around 7 a.m., lasted for three hours as residents and shop owners hurriedly closed their doors and stayed in-doors for hours till normalcy returned.
Investigations revealed that one named Emir who was a leader of Eiye Confraternity, was reported to have shot at a member of Aiye Confraternity.
However, the bullet did not penetrate the target.
Subsequently, Emir, was reportedly attacked immediately after his wedding introduction held at Akarabata junction in the area.
It was revealed that there was a reprisal attack by members of Eiye Confraternity, who stormed Akarabata around 7.30a.m. and reportedly injured many.
Confirming the story, a police source at Moore Division revealed to our correspondent that five suspected cultists have been arrested.
