5 Pensioners Die In Ekiti Within A Month
Acting under the aegis of Association of Local Government Concerned Pensioners (ALGCP) they called on Governor Ayodele Fayose to reduce what they called the “high mortality rate” among them which they attributed to nonpayment of their benefits.
At a prayer session organised by the pensioners in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, the retired civil servants claimed that many of them had died in the last one year with five dying in the last one month.
They lamented that it had become a regular occurrence to hear about the death of colleagues who attended previous meetings of their monthly meetings.
The council retirees said lack of money to buy drugs to manage their health challenges and hunger are the reasons they were dying at an alarming rate.
