53-Year-Old Man In Court For Allegedly Forging Family Land Agreement

 

A 53-year-old man, Shina Ogunwale has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrate Court for allegedly forging his family land agreement in his bid to sell four plots to one Obajuwonlo Olaiya in Okinni area of the State of Osun.

Ogunwale, according to the police, was said to have forged agreement document in the name of Lasigun family and signed it without the consent of the family.

He allegedly obtained a sum of N1,200,000 from Olaiya under the pretence of selling the land to him. 

According to the charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER yesterday, the defendant committed the offence in 2016 at Oke-Aigbe, Lasigun Estate, Okinni.

The alleged offence, according to the police, contravened Sections 419, 390(9) and 467 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol.II, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

But the defendant pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of fraud, stealing and forgery levelled against him.

Defence Counsel, Okobe Nagite, prayed the court to admit the accused person to bail on a liberal term, noting that reliable surety would stand for him throughout the trial.

Speaking in the court, Olaiya, the complainant, said he recently found out that the accused person deceived him into buying the land, saying the head of the Lasigun family denied all signatories on the agreement document handed over to him by the defendant.

In his ruling, the presiding Magistrate, A.O  Ajanaku, admitted the defendant to bail in a sum of N250,000 with two sureties.

The case was adjourned till June 17, 2022 for hearing.
