A 55-year-old man, Niyi Adebiyi, has been arraigned before an Ede Magistrate Court for allegedly selling some parcels of land belonging to a community in Ede.
Adebiyi was accused of selling 724 plots of land belonging to Akola area of Ido Osun.
He was arraigned on a two-count charge of fraud and breach of peace.
According to the charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER yesterday, the accused persons started selling the community land in 2020 up till 2022.
The alleged offence, according to the police, contravened Sections 81 and 249 of the Criminal Code, CAP 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State, 2003.
But the defendant pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge levelled against him.
Defence counsel, Kasia Mobi Nwoke, prayed the court to admit the accused person to bail on a liberal term, noting that reliable surety would stand for him throughout the trial.
In his ruling, the presiding Magistrate, I.R Ladipo, admitted the accused person bail in a sum of N300,000 with two sureties.
The case was adjourned till October 13, 2022 for hearing.
