On the 4th of September Hector Jobarteh, the winner of the third edition, Guilder Ultimate Search, GUS. The 38-year-old reality TV star was shot dead at his home in Oko-Oba after returning from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja where he had gone to pick up his younger brother by unknown gunmen.

The latest development now recounts that the Commissioner of Police in Lagos state, Imohimi Edgal, has announced the arrest of six persons in connection with the murder.

Speaking at a press conference at the state police command headquarters in Ikeja yesterday, Imohimi gave the names of the suspected killers that have been arrested as Igana, 28; John, 26; Adekunle, 19; Madu, 24; Adeyemi, 20, and Adekunle, 25. He said the driver of the vehicle that transported the killers has also been arrested

“The driver that conveyed the killers of Hector and one of the killers have been arrested. The phone belonging to Hector, which was stolen from him after his murder, has been recovered. Five other suspects in connection with the case have also been arrested.”

While speaking to newsmen, the driver of the vehicle the killers used, said he was forced to carry them as they held him down at gunpoint.

“I was looking for an Android phone when my brother, Valentine, linked me with one JK. It was JK that called me to drive them to Yaba from Cement and I was paid N8,000, after I had charged them N10,000. The next day, JK called me again to take them to Abeokuta and I charged them N20,000. On the way, we stopped at Sango and two other men joined us. We later stopped by at a nearby bush and JK ordered one of the men to bring out a nylon bag which had a gun inside. That was when I tried running away, but I was threatened and ordered back into the car. I was later arrested through my younger brother, who had gone to sell a stolen phone later identified as the victim’s phone.” he said

One of the suspects said he only followed his uncle to sell Hector’s phone in computer village and had no knowledge that it was owned by the victim

“I followed my uncle to Computer Village to sell the deceased phone after Sallah, and I was given N1,000 as a gift from my uncle. That is the only thing I know about the incident. I was not part of those who went to the deceased house.”

On his part, another suspect, John, claimed that he did not know anything about the robbery operation, saying he only needed an android phone for his personal use.

“It was someone who introduced me to Madu at the Computer Village. After negotiation, I bought the phone from him. “The next thing was I saw Police, who came to arrest me, at my house at Ojodu Berger. I don’t even know how they located my house. I don’t know anything about the phone. I only bought it from Madu.”

Meanwhile Hector was laid to rest in Ibadan yesterday September 14th.
