64 Protesters Arraigned In Kaduna
…As Pro Bono Lawyers Secures 30 Bail, 34 Remanded
The team of pro bono lawyers for the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters have disclosed that they had secured the bail of 30 people among the 64 protesters arraigned in different magistrate courts in Kaduna state on Monday for alleged various crimes.
One of the Lawyers, Inibehe Effiong made this known in a post on his X handle @InibeheEffiong on Monday.
According to Effiong, the other 34 suspects were remanded because they were charged with offences that are only bailable at the High Court.
He wrote, “64 protesters were arrested and arraigned before different Magistrates in Katsina State today. Our team of pro bono lawyers under the auspices of LAWYERS FOR RULE OF LAW AND HUMAN RIGHTS led by MM Lawal, Esq. and DD Sani, Esq. represented the protesters in Katsina.
“30 of the protesters have been granted bail and most of the 30 have already regained their freedom. We’re still perfecting bail for the remaining. The other set of 34 protesters have been remanded in the Correctional Centre because they were charged with offences that are only bailable at the High Court. Our team is taking steps to apply for their bail at the High Court. We will continue to do all that we can to offer representation to protesters across the country.”
