A 76-year-old man, Akeem Muritala has been remanded in a correction centre by a Family Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Gbemisola Adedeji, told the court that Muritala committed the offence in July in the Isale-Afa area of Ibadan and that the defendant narrated the abuse to the police.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 34 of the Child Rights Law 2006.
While ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, ordered that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
Ogunkanmi adjourned the case until October 23 for mention.
