A member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has commended the Federal Government on its sincerity on the implementation of whistle-blowing policy through instant reward.
Oyintiloye in an interview with newsmen on Wednesday in Osogbo said the N375.8 million reward paid by FG to 20 whistle-blowers of corrupt public officers and private individuals would serve as a morale booster in recovering looted funds.
He said the payment was a clear signal that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration was committed to the fight against corrupt practices in the country.
Oyintiloye, who is the House Committee Chairman on Information and Strategy, said the payment would encourage others who have information on looted funds to ‘ blow the whistle ‘.
“I really want to commend the president for keeping to his words under the whistle blowing reward policy.
“This show that Mr President is sincere in the fight against corruption in the country”
“And without mincing words, this first batch of reward under the policy would encourage other people with useful information to come out to blow the whistle on stolen funds“.
Oyintiloye also commended the Federal Government for protecting the identity of information provider, saying, this would also serve as an assurance for others whistle-blowers that their identity would be protected.
He urged patriotic Nigerians to continue to support the government in its efforts to sanitise the country from corruption.
Oyintiloye, however, urged Nigerians not to lose hope, saying better days are close by.
It would be recalled that the Federal Government on Wednesday said, it had paid N375.8m to 20 whistle-blowers who provided information that led to the recovery of N11.6 billion looted fund.
The Director of Information, Mr Salisu Dambatta in a statement in Abuja said that the payment was only for recovered assets that had been declared free of legal disputes or litigation by the Attorney-General of the Federation.
