Ogun Gov Commends GTBank For Promoting Sport
The Ogun State Governor Ibikune Amosun, who spoke at the finals of the GTBank/Ogun State Principals’ Cup season five at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta, said there were no way talents could be discovered without having this kind of competition among schools in the state as the competition was aimed at encouraging the students. He added that the banning of all non-sporting activities at stadia was part of plans to promote sporting activities.

The Governor said the GTBank CSR, in collaboration with state government, would continue to work together at redefining and channelling the strength of Ogun state youths to positive things through sporting activities.
“Thank you for identifying with us, thank for identifying with our youth, there is no attainment in sports that they cannot achieve with this lovely initiative. I am very sure they are happy seeing this, I want to believe we are seeing the future of Nigeria here today.
“Ogun state is a home of sporting giant and we are going to do our bit to get more giants out of the state, giant-like Anthony Joshua, Segun Odegbami and the rest,” Amosun said.
At the end of the female final match, Iko Gateway Grammar School, participating in the tournament for the first time, defeated the current champion, Muslim High School, Isolu 4-2 via penalties after a goalless draw at regulation time, while in the male category, Pakoto High School, Ifo, defeated Ipara Community High School, Ijebu Ode 4-2 also via penalties after a 1-1 draw at regulation time.
