Robinho Found Guilty For Rape, Sentenced To 9 Years Imprisonment
Robinho, Brazilian star, aged 33, has been found guilty by an Italian court of group sexual assault against a 22-year-old woman. The incident, which occurred in 2013, happened at a time Robinho was still playing for Milan.
According to reports from the Italian state news agency (ANSA), Robinho was sentenced to nine years in prison for a group sexual assault of a 22-year-old woman at a Milanese nightclub on January 22, 2013.
Five other individuals were also convicted alongside the football star for their involvement in the assault.The sentence has not been enforced, however, as he has the opportunity to appeal the ruling.
Robinho, formerly played for clubs such as Milan, Manchester City and Real Madrid and currently with Atletico Mineiro in his home country of Brazil.
The star, according to a post on his Instagram account, has denied involvement in the allegation.“With regards to the news involving the forward Robinho, regarding something that happened some years ago, we would like to clarify that he has already defended himself against the allegation, affirming that he was not involved in the incident,” the statement read.“Every legal measure is being taken about this first ruling.”
