“No Case Of LASSA Fever In Ile-Ife”

The Management of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH), Ile-Ife has assured residents of the State of Osun that there is no more case of Lassa fever in the ancient town.
Chairman of a committee set up by the hospital management on Lassa fever, Prof Adedeji Onyade stated this in a telephone correspondent with our reporter on Wednesday.
Prof Onyade explained the only patient that had the deadly disease was from Ondo state and had been confirmed dead.
Similarly, The director of Nursing Services at the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Ile Ife, Mr Samson Popoola also confirmed that there is no case of Lassa fever in the hospital.
In the meantime, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Adelani Baderinwa, had said the reported case of Lassa fever in the state is untrue, adding that only isolated death case of a patient from a neighbouring state was recorded.
Baderinwa explained that the patient was admitted at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Ile-Ife, and later died.
