Community Interest Will Be Given Priority – Ede East Council Boss
The newly elected Chairman of Ede East Local Council Development Area, Sekona, Mr Sikiru Adewale has assured the people of the LCDA of his administration’s commitment towards giving community interest a priority.
According to a statement by the Information Officer of the council, Hammed Oyeniyi, Akanni gave the assurance while delivering his maiden speech after he was unanimously elected as the Chairman by his fellow parliamentarians in the council and sworn-in by the newly elected Leader of the House, Honourable Ayodele Mojeed.
Akanni charged his fellow parliamentarians to consider passing bye-laws which will guarantee good governance and the best quality services delivery for the people of the LCDA, saying, “We cannot afford to let our people down, hence we must ensure that we deliver to impact lives positively and bring dividend of democracy to the door step of our people”.
He thanked the Governor, State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for bringing the government closer to the people at the grassroots by creating LCDAs, Area Councils and Administrative Offices.
The council boss also admonished all citizens and dwellers of the LCDA to always perform their civic responsibilities by paying taxes and other levies as may be required saying this will afford government the capability to accomplish her good intentions for the entire populace.
Other Principal Officers elected are; Sakariyau Saheed Tunde as Vice Chairman; Kareem Kabiru Asafe as Deputy Leader and Oni Bukola Wuraola a member of the House.
The Council Manager, Comrade Abiodun Gboyega Ojo in his opening address gave kudos to the Governor by setting pace for other states to follow with the introduction of Parliamentary system in the Local Government in the state, describing Osun as a pacesetter.
He assured the new cabinet of the council the commitment and cooperation of the entire staff members.
In their separate goodwill messages, The Olu of Sekona, Oba Abdul Waheed Adebowale Oyeniran; Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Yunus Olalekan; and an APC Leader, Alhaji Sule Alao enjoined the council’s parliamentarians to be good ambassadors of their party and impact positively without playing politics with governance.
The inaugural sitting of the House was graced by Oba Abdul Wasiu Iwaloye Abidoye, Ologobi of Ogobi; Chiefs, APC stalwarts, all HODs and staff members of the LCDA, party members and well wishers.
