Court Remands Woman, Three Men For Armed Robbery

An Osogbo Magistrate court has ordered that a woman and three men be remanded in Ilesa prison custody over alleged armed robbery.
The suspects include a 42-year old female, Tofella Ibiteye, her husband, David Ibiteye, 46, Azeez Hammed, 65, and Adeoye Lateef, 34.
They were docked on two count charges bothering on conspiracy to wit felony and robbery.
The prosecutor, Inspector Oladoye Joshua told the court that the defendants committed the offence on April 25, 2018 at about 3 pm at Grace lodge, Kola Balogun Area, Osogbo.
He explained that the accused persons conspired among themselves to commit Armed Robbery.
Oladoye said that the defendants did armed themselves with guns and other dangerous weapons to rob one Mrs Victoria Abioda Balogun of her Gold jewelries valued N18, 000,000.00, one Nokia phone, one infinix phone and cash sum of N250, 000 .
“Two of the convicts were couple while the third party is a driver to the complainant who masterminded the robbery “
Inspector Oladoye submitted that the offence is contrary to and punishable under section 1(2)a(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (special provisions) Act cap RII Vol. 14 laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The defence counsel, Mr R. A Ngwu appeared for the first, second and fourth accused person while Mr Taiwo Awokunle appeared for the third accused person.
The plea of the defendants were not taken.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A .O Ajanaku ordered the accused persons to be remanded in Ilesha prison custody.
The case was adjourned to July 7, 2018 for hearing.
